Huge Haul Of Goods In Police Raid
(Spec.) PALMERSTON N„ This Day. Allegedly pillaged, a huge quantity of assorted goods were seized by police raiding the home of a railway locomotive drivel'.
The only goods of the terrific haul so far identified by the police arc a number of golf clubs and golf bags, allegedly the property ol a professional golfer in tile city.
Included in the haul was radio sets, boots, shoes, slippers, gumboots, a number of new tyres, car rims, chests of tea, suitcases, a Post and Telegraph hamper marked “fragile,” blankets books, wire netting, groceries of all descriptions, sports coats, bolts of material and a host of other valuable items.
A railwayman who was apprehended at the time of the raid will be charged in the Magistrate's Court with the theft of golf clubs tc the total value of £BS.
The remainder of the goods, which arc awaiting identification, fully occupied two large-sized rooms at the central police station.
