SHARP QUAKE IN WELLINGTON

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A sharp earthquake was felt in Wellington at 1.38 a.m. It lasted about 45 seconds.

The Dominion Observatory estimates the centre as 270 miles from Wellington, probably some distance at sea off the Gisborne coast.
