War Neurosis Cases

(From Our Political Correspondent) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister of Health (Miss Howard) was recently asked by Mr A. J. Murdoch (O—Marsden) whether the Government had any intention of establishing a home for returned soldiers who are suffering from neurosis as a result of war service, and who today are placed in mental institutions. He added that a case had been recently brought to his notice of a returned soldier patient recently placed in a mental institution, and who showed distinct evidence of ill-treatment. “It is accepted by those competent in the knowledge of neurosis that it is not helpful to the serviceman patient to provide special homes for him away from other patients,” replied the Minister.

“If the member will supply me with the name and circumstances of the case to which he refers. I will take the necessary steps to ascertain the facts.”
