BOWLS AT MAUNGATAPERE Maungatapere and district farmers are taking up bowls. A full green has been laid down on a site near the Maungatapere Hall and arrangements for the opening in October are well advanced. BASEBALL IN NORTH A baseball club is to be formed in Kaitaia and the first practice will be held this week-end, it was decided at an informal meeting of young people convened by Mr Ken Timbers on Wednesday nignt. Information was that sufficient players would be available to form both men’s and women’s blubs, and while the attendance was not large, enthusiasm was high. When on a proper footing the Kaitaia Club hopes to engage in outside games with both Dargaville and Whangarei players, as well as competing with existing Far North Teams. * Henry Wilson's showing in Cretonnes, Tapestries, Curtain Nets, Repps, etc., is arousing considerable attention.
