ACCLIMATISATION ACTIVITIES REVIEWED

DIFFICULTIES in obtaining feed and netting had made the lot of pheasant breeders a hard one, says the president (Mr S. J. Snow) in his report to be presented to the annual meeting of the Whangarei Acclimatisation Society.

To breeders and those who had 'tailed breeding in spite of these dilficulties sportsmen owed their thanks. Arrangements had been made with Mr A. Higgins to begin breeding on a large scale on his modern poultry farm. The aim this year was 1000 birds, which, if attained, would compensate largely for the pheasant shortage over liie last few years. The president paid tribute to Mrs and the Misses Millington for breeding very fine birds under trying circumstances.
