CARRYING COALS TO EUROPE
(Rec. II a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 23 Mr J. Eaton Griffith, chairman of the European coal organisation, at a Press conference in London today, said the United States, which before the war was not a major supplier of coal to Europe, was now sending about 20,000.000 tons annually, using 500 Liberly-type ships.
This was draining Europe’s dollar resources by 400,000.000 annually, yet. Europe all the time had all the coal needed underfoot.
