Convict Appeals To Princess Margaret

LONDON

The King has sent a letter to the Governor General of South Africa (Mr Van Zyl) asking for an investigation into the case of “Convict 3963.” who, His Majesty disclosed, had sent an appeal to Princess Margaret, seeking the remission of his indeterminate sentence when Their Majesties visit South Africa in February. The Natal Indian Teachers’ Society has withdrawn from the committee arranging children’s functions for the Royal tour. The Natal Indian Congress Partystated that it intended to call a total boycott of the tour if any effort was made to include Indian children.
