Candidate For Buller

(P.A.) NELSON, This Day. Mr Phillip Ernest McDonald, a fisherman. who operates a steam trawler at Westport, has been selected as National Party candidate for the Buller electorate at the general election. Mr McDonald, who is 38 years of age, was educated at Greymouth. He worked on the wharf and as a fisherman until he went to reside in Westport three years ago. He is a member of the Dominion executive of the party and a member of the Canterbury divisional committee. He was formerly chairman of the Westland electorate committee and in 1941 was selected as National candidate for Timaru. but the election was postponed. Mr McDonald’s main sport is yachting. At one time he won the Whitford Cup at Lyttelton.
