No Arrest Yet In Nelson Mystery
(P.A.) NELSON. This Day No arrest has yet been made in connection with the Queen’s gardens duck pond murder mystery. The burial of the victim, Miss Rangi Tai Otimi, aged 21. will take place at Waihi Pa, Tokaanu, probably tomorrow.
It was stated authoritatively in Wellington yesterday afternoon that Miss Rangi Tai Otimi. the victim of the Nelson murder, was not directed to employment in the Nelson district. She was a volunteer for work in that area while she was living in Taumarunui and left there entirely of her own volition. Her fares were paid, as is customary in meeting the demands for seasonal labour, but she found her own employment. The only contact made with the National Employment Service, it was stated, was when, after finishing the work in which she was engaged, she registered for employment and was referred to work at Nelson College. It was also stated that while Miss Otimi was in the Motueka district she was living at a hostel operated by the YWCA on behalf of a Government department.
