Freight By Road
(Special). AUCKLAND. This Day. A road freight service augmenting the railway goods services which have been curtailed as a result of the coal shortage will begin in the Auckland district today. About 30 army trucks which were brought from Ngaruawahia camp during the week-end will carry goods for the Railway Department from Auckland as far south as Te Awamutu and north to Maungaturoto. With the full fleet of trucks it is expected that the emergency road service will carry in the vicinity of 150 tons of freight a day.
