Christmas Parcels In Fire

Marked "Damaged in Transit by Fire,” a few Christmas parcels were delivered to their recipients by Post Office officials today.* It is understood that the parcels were damaged by an outbreak of fil'd while on a train travelling north to Auckland.

Addressees of the Whangare; parcels were all traced without difficulty and, although the wrappings were in some cases scorched and slightly charred, addresses were still legible.
