Investigate Atomic Power
(Roc. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON. Aug. 21 Mr. Attlee announced in the House of Commons that he was establishing an advisory committee under Sir John Anderson to deal with the far-reaching questions involved in the discovery of atomic energy for purposes of its development, whether for industrial or military purposes.
Other members of the committee will he Sir Alexander Carogan. Sir Alan Brccke, Sir Alexander Cadogan. Sir Alan Appleton. Sir Henry Dale', Sir James Chadwick, Sir George Thomson, and Professor P. M. ue matters, and would not be concerned 'ith the main policy to be adopted by iriiain and oilier countries.
Mr. Attlee said the policy, of course, had to be decided by the Government, but. the committee would advise on scientific progress, possibilities, and the general background of the whole subject.
