Extra Meat Rations For Medical Cases

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Details of supplementary rations being provided for persons requiring a special diet of meat for medical reasons, were announced last night by the Rationing Controller (Mr. Thomas). An additional full ration sheet will be issued to children suffering from coeliac disease, and an additional half ratica sheet will be issued to persons suffering from the follow-, ing diseases: Tuberculosis, nephrosia and nephritis (with gross albuminia and gross oedema) and chronic ulcerative colitis.

Applicants must present medical certificates to the rationing officer with their current ration book. In addition, applications may be made direct to the food and rationing controller Wellington by persons suffering from cirrhosis of the liver (severe hepatitis) and conditions of profuse pus formation (emphyema osteomyelitis). Such applications must be accompanied by medical certificates and will be considered on their merits.
