Young Boy Drowned
(Spec.) PUKEKOHE, This Day A drowning accident occurred in the Waikato River near Tuakau on Thursday night. The victim was: Donnie Tuhimata, aged S'/o, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rangi Tuhimata, of Tuakau. The boy was seen by some other children to leave in a small flat-bottomed boat from the metal dump on River Rd. to paddle across to an island in the river about 100yds away. When about halfway across, the boat was seen to be in a sinking condition. It was recovered latev two miles down-stream. Although dragging operations were carried on all dav yesterday the body had not been recovered at a late hour last night.
