To Care For Orphans Of Soldier Heroes
(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. The major activity of the Auckland Rotary Club for the current ' year is the sponsoring of a movement having for its object the care of children of soldiers who have died.
In making this announcement, at the club's weekly meeting, the President (Mr A. K. North) said that, in going through the list of soldiers who had died, leaving wives and children, he had been surprised at the large number from Auckland province. Those responsible for the proposed organisation which was already in operation in Wellington under the designation of the Heritage Movement, aimed to take the place of a father so far as was possible, to growing girls and boys who needed assistance and guidance. It was not intended that the club should be in control of the Auckland branch. Its duty would be to assist in every way possible to have the movement established in Auckland on a thoroughly sound basis in much the same way as it had assisted the establishment of the Crippled Children’s Society.
