Britain Leads World In War Mobilisation

LONDON, Aug. 25. The number of persons working fulltime for the war effort, of Britain's effective population of 33,130,000 which is defined as persons aged 14 to G 4, is 22.300.000 said the Parliamentary secretary for the Ministry for Labour (Mr. McCorquodale). The figure includes 15,200.000 men and 7.100.000 women. There are 2,500,000 married among women workers. Mr. McCorquodale says that British manpower is the most highly organised in the world. Women represent 35 per cent of total employees in engineering and allied industries, and 52 per cent in the chemicals, and explosives industries. Figures do not take into account of any’ form of voluntary work. Home Guard or Fir a Guard.
