Flying Fortresses Attack Bordeaux
LONDON, August 25. Formations of Flying Fortresses, returning to England from Africa after bombing Regensburg on August 17. attacked an aii’craft assembly plant at Bordeaux in daylight yesterday, states an Air Ministry U.S.A.A.F. communique. Crews report good bombing results. Enemy opposition was not severe and bombers destroyed seven German aircraft.' Other Fortresses, escorted by Thunderbolts and Spitfires, attacked German airfields in Villa Coublay, Conches and Evreaux-Fauville. Thunderbolts destroyed six enemy fighters, and Spitfires two. From these operations four bombers are missing. United States Air Force and Fighter Command Thunderbolts escorting Flying Fortresses attacked German airfields in Occupied France yesterday and destroved six enemy fighters .without loss, states United States Army headquarters in Britain.
