Coalmining Equal With Combat Service
(8.0. W.) RUGBY. August 23. Coalmining has been put on equality with service in the armed forces i'oi the intake of recruits, according to an announcement by the Ministry for Labour National Service. This is in view of the need to prevent falling short in supplies of coal, and men born in October or December, 1925, who are required to register on Saturday next, may now express preference for coalmining Those who prefer service in the armed forces will, unless wishing to make the army their career, be considered mainly for the Navy or Marines who have the greatest need for recruits, or for the air crew branch of the R.A.F. and Fleet Air Arm.
