Higher Allowance For Men, On Furlough
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Following representations it had made, the R.S.A. has been advised by Ihe Minister l'or Defence (Mr. Jones.) that the Government has decided that members oi the Middle East furlough draft will be granted a supplementary allowance of 16 a day. thus bringing their subsistence allowance to 4/6 a day during their three months’ stay in New Zealand. The allowance of 4/6 is that paid to men serving in the. home forces and living away from their homes.
