Goering Holds Best Fighter In Reserve
LONDON, July 25 The Germans’ best fighter plane Foeke-Wulf 190 has virtually disap peared from the western front, says the Press Association’s aeronautical writer. Air Ministry announcements for nearly a fortnight have not mentioned Focke-Wulfs, only a handful of which have been seen during last week’s British and American sweeps over Europe. Enemy fighters which our planes shot down recently have all been Messerschmitt 190 s. There are two explanations for what seems a virtual withdrawal or Focke-Wulfs on the Western front aic war: (1) Goering may be reserving his best fighters for defensive fighting, especially in the event of invasion oi the coast of Northern France. (2) The Focke-Wulf may be switched to other areas. There is no evidence that Focke-Wulfs have been transfer-red elsewhere and it is generally believed that Goering is saving them for the time when he is likely to need them most desperately.
