Rioting In Sofia

Large-scale rioting is reported to have broken out in Sofia. The military have been called in as police are unable to cope with the situation because of transfers to Macedonia iwhere unrest has also occurred Telephonic communication with Sofia was interrupted on Wednesday. Reports received at Istanbul state that more than 40 deputies spoke opposing unlimited co-operation with the Axis when the Bulgarian parliament met on Wednesday. Parliament passed a record budget equivalent to £15,000,000, including nearly £13.000,000 for the army. Plane Over Bulgaria It is reported from Istanbul that the Bulgarian Army has issued a communique stating that high-explosive bombs and leaflets have been dropped by aircraft of unknown nationality which flew over Bulgaria. Other sources state fhat the leaflets called on the Bulgarian people to overthrow the Filov Government and throw out the Germans and thus save Bulgarian towns from devastating bombing.
