Northland Deprived Of Lime-Super Mixture
The fertiliser ration for the current season has not yet been announced by the Government, said the chairman (Mr. L. Reynolds), at the annual meeting today of the Maungatapere Dairy Co. Mr. Reynolds believed that rationing would be on the same basis as last year. Efforts had been made for Northland, which had ample deposits of lime, to receive superphosphate for mixing with lime. The question had been taken .up by the Whangarei Primary Production Council, by dairy companies, and by the National Dairy Association, but the proposal had not been adopted by the Government authorities, who had stated that no difference could be made between one part of New Zealand and another. “I think it is a pity,” Mr. Reynolds commented. "I think if we could use a lime-super mixture it would be cheaper for farmers, and it would give as good or perhaps better results than the ser-pentine-super we have to usa.”
