Britain’s War Spending
(8.0. W.) RUGBY, July 22. The total British war expenditure has now reached £14,500,000,000, said the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir Charles Kingsley Wood). ■ . Asking the House of Commons for a further vote of credit of £1,000,000,000, he said the last vote given may be exhausted before the end of August. He had last given the rate of expenditure as about 13,500,000 daily, of which about 11,000,000 was on the fighting supply services and 2,500,000 was for miscellaneous war services. Since the beginning of April, the daily rate of war expenditure had been about 13,250,000, there having been a drop of about £250,000 daily cn miscellaneous services. There was no special significance in this.
