Urges Modification Of Fitness Warrants

(Spec.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The severe results of any attempts to enforce the regulations relating lo warranis of Illness for cars, under existing conditions, has lately been brought to the notice of the Automobile Association (Auckland).

With the great majority of cars in enforced idleness, it is suggested that an undue burden would be imposed if owners were to be forced to secure the periodic renewals of warrants of fitness as operated in more normal times. In seme cases, with the meagre allowance ol petrel now available this would be almost impossible. At the same time it has been indicated that tiie authorities desire owners to run thc-ir cars briefly from time to lime to keep them in mobile condition against a possible slate of emergency when every form of transport would be invaluable. It is suggested that the situation calls for some official modification, and the subject is likely to he discussed at tonight’s meeting of the Automobile Associat ion.
