One Stock Finn Prevents Weekly Sales

The proposals regarding the holding of combined one-day stock sales at Kamo were discussed at yesterday's meeting of the sub-provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, when replies from the stock firms contacted were received.

All firms but one were prepared to come into the project, and there was a general expression of regret that the non-co-operation on the part of one firm prevented this project being carried out.

Mr. H. E. Hewlett commented upon ; the waste which would be avoided if i one-day sales were conducted, and j asked what grounds the firm in ques- j tion based its objections upon. Iri reply to his query, it was stated that the firm considered the number of cattle offered could not be properly handled nt the sale; but this, was only one of the objections raised. The chairman (Mr. A. Briscoe Moore) moved that the relative letters be received and the matter be kept in view, and that the president and vicepresident interview the heads of the 'stock firms in favour of the project, to investigate the possibility of taking the matter further.
