Mr. Charles Le Clerc. Formerly Of Parua Bay
OBITUARY
A lormer well-known resident of the Parua Bay district, Mr. Charles John Le Clerc has died in Auckland. Born at Dublin. Ireland, Mr. Le Clerc came to New Zealand with his parents in 1888 and lived in Auckland for a time before going to live with his parents and family at Pataua, where he engaged in farming with his brothers.
Later he joined a Government survey party under the late Mr. A. G. Martin, of Kamo, and took part in most of the original survey of the Mangakahia block. In 1900 he married Miss Constance Squires, of Parua Bay, and later bought a farm at Northcote, Auckland, where he lived for a number of years, finally retiring to Brown’s Bay, where he lived until his death. Mr. Le Clerc took an active interest in Parua Bay affairs while living in that district and at various times he was a member of the school committee and the road board. He was a keen rifleshot, being a member of the Parua Bay Rifle Club and during the last war was attached to the National Defence Rifles.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Staff-Sergeant J. D. Le Clerc, of Waiouru, and one daughter. Mrs. C. Dennen, of Brown's Bay. There are four grandchildren. Brothers are Mr. G. Le Clerc, of Hamilton, and Mr. B. R. Le Clerc. of Helena Bay, and Mrs. J. E. Brndney, of Whnngarei is a sister.
