The Comirjander-in-Chief of the Far East (Air Marshal Sir Robert Brooke-Popham) and his staff left by air for Singapore after concluding the conference which the United States leaders termed highly successful. In a frank interview before leaving for Singapore, Sir Robert said: “I think Japan is worried and does not quite know what to do. It seems to me that the Japanese are beginning to wonder if they have not been let down by the Axis —as they really have —and whether they have backed the wrong horse.” He declared that Singapore hod been ready to meet attacks months ago. Australian Envoy The Australian representative (Sir Earle Page), who has arrived in Manila, dined with the United States High Commissioner (Mr. Francis Sayre). Other guests were the United States Commander-in-Chief in the Philippines (General MacArthur), Admiral Hart and General Grunert.
