B.M.A. Suggests Non-Political Health Probe

[Per Press Association.—Copyright] NELSON, This Day.

Proposals for a non-political investigation into New Zealand’s health services are contained in a letter to the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) irom the chairman of the National Health Insurance Committee of the British Medical Association (Dr. J. P. Jamieson). “The medical profession maintains that adequate consideration of the health services of this country has never yet been made by a fully competent body," says the letter. “May I suggest, therefore, that a non-political commission of persons fully qualified to deal with the scientific, economic, financial and social questions involved, be set up to inquire into health services, and to submit a report on which sound legislation may be based. “It is hardly to be believed that such a course will not meet with o general approval.” Dr. Jamieson concludes.
