Protest Against Mail Censorship
[Special to “Northern Advocate”! AUCKLAND, This Day. Protests were voiced at a meeting of the council of the Chamber of Commerce today against the censorship of internal mails. It was decided to ask the Associated Chambers to endeavour to arrange that letters be opened only in cases of justified suspicion by the military or police. The chairman (Mr. L. A. Eady) said he understood that in Britain the internal censorship related only to individuals on the suspected list, but they were given the opportunity of submitting evidence as to their innocence.
