Eefore referring to this very interesting subject I wish respectfully to ask my fellow citizens by what moral right can any citizen
RUSSIAN FRIENDSHIP.
aver that another citizen has fatal de-
lusions, and thus inferentially accuse one of misleading Also, with your permission, I will again honestly and confidently assert that the polity indicated in the neu civilisation is the only one that will ensure the permanence of peace in Europe after the Nazis are completely subjugated and vigilantly watched thereafter with the help of Russian surveillance. Italy has probably been promised a free hand in Africa* while the Nazis were civilising the other Europeans, then the Orientals, Americans, and ultimately the Africans also. The planet will then be effectively Germanised. But with Russian confederates the towering ambition of the Prussian will be effectivey circumvented. When oi.r stupendous power on land and sea. and in the air are considered, also the friendship of America, and also the smaller nations who may be wise at present to remain neutral, we, the Allies, could do the grim and gruesome job without fear of the consequences that have been forced upon us. Death in this crisis, would be much more preferable than defeat. What, then, are our reasons for enmity with Russia? Evidently its leaders had been non-aggressive until Germany’s fell purpose was seen. Then to antagonise Russia was erl- - dangerous for both combatants.
We know what the Germans will do to the great, besides small, nations, and, being surrounded by conspirators trying to wreck their Government the leader's had to adopt a purge to protect their people. This, and the fear of aggression would probably cause the shocking attack on the unfortunate Finns. Russia has no cause to fear us, and the leaders will know that. But they have good reasons to fear Germany and Japan, who are also our deadly enemies. Italy has our fleet to vanquish, and if that feat fails, Mussolini’s long narrow territory will be subjected to a French and British volcanic onset of a totally different kind to the lucrative visits of tourists. This scribe would imagine that Italy had been devastated by an earthquake after the Allied fleets had performed their duty. There is a remarkable feature in the Nazis’ propaganda that is puzzling me, as it seemingly affects human nature. Is it possible that even one man or woman can believe the Nazis’ version of events that are constantly being denied by the French and British? If the Nazis think so, no wonder they make blunders. But, luckily for us, their stupidity and insatiable cupidity make them less formidable than if they were very clever and perspicacious. Their thoroughness, though, makes them a dangerous enemy.— WILLJAM R. KEAY.
