Beef Declines Further At Westfield

A further decline in beef prices on the Westfield fat stock market today brought them back to the lowest level since early August.
The yarding was heavier than last week, and after recent prolonged shortages of fat cattle supplies are now back to normal. 1 The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Ltd., reports that, owing to a larger yarding, all classes of beef eased in value, with the heavier cattle most affected.
Extra choice ox sold to 37/- per 100 lbs; choice and prime ox, 33/- to 36/-; ordinary and plain, 28/- to 32/-; prime young cow and heifer beef, 29/- to 35/-; ordinary cow beef, 22/- to 28/-. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l3 10/- to £l4 7/6; heavy prime steers, £l2 12/6 to £l3 7/6; lighter prime steers. £ll to £l2 10/-; light prime steers, £9 to £lO 17/6; small and unfinished steers, £5 to £8 15/-. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £7 10/- to £8 15/-; lighter prime cows and heifers, £5 7/6 to £6 7/6; other killable cows, £3 10/- to £5 5/-.
