There was a large entry of boner cows and store cattle at the Frankton stock sale yesterday. Late rates were maintained.
Prime bullocks made up to £l3 7/6. and all classes of fat sheep met a steady demand, although there was an easing tendency in values towards the end of the sale.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: Cattle.—Prime ox beef, £l2 to £l2 2/6; prime cow beef, £8 5/- to £8 10/-; medium prime heifers, £7 7/6 to £7 10/-; lighter, £6 7/- to £6 16/-; prime Jersey heifers. £6 2/6 to £6 10/-; lighter, £5 10/- to £5 12/-; prime Jersey cows, £6 1/- to £6 11/-; lighter, £5 to £5 12/6; killable, £4 11/- to £4 15/-; heavy boner cows, £3 16/- to £4 2/-; medium, £3 4/- to £3 9/-; potter bulls, to £9 7/6; lighter, £4 15/- to £5 10/-; vealers, £2 17/to £3 2/-; medium, £2 7/- to £2 10/-; lighter,. £2 1/- to £2 4/- small yearling polled Angus steers, to £2 10/-; yearling crossbred bulls, £2 to £2 10/-; empty yearling Jersey heifers, £5; mixed yeaxding, running with bull, crossbred Jersey heifers, to £4 3/-.
Sheep.—Heavy fat wethers 22/- to 24/6; medium, 18/- to 19/6; others, to 15/-; heavy fat ewes, 13/- to 15/6; medium, 10/- to 12/-; best hoggets, 17/- to 19/-; medium fat lambs, 19/to 22/-; lighter, to 16/-. Pigs.—Heavy fat baconers, £3 'l7/to £4; medium, £3 12/- to £3 14/-; heavy porkers, £2 18/- to £3 5/-; medium, £2 8/- to £2 14/-; best quality stores, 38/- to £2 2/-; second quality, 3/- to 35/-; others, to 28/-; best weaners, 18/6 to £1 1/6.
