Waikiekie Wins Championship Again

Playing at the top of their form, members of the Waikiekie junior team won the junior grade championship for the second year in succession by beating Hikurangi by six points to nil.

The teams had drawn in the championship and the play-off produced a hard-fought .game with no score in the first half and little advantage to either side. A nice opening made by B. Pvussck paved the way for H. Thomson to score an unconverted try, and then, from a penalty against Hikurangi, P. Russek raised the flags with a great kick from nearly halfway.

Waikiekie tired over the closing stages and Hikurangi pressed hotly, Waikiekie having to touch down on two occasions to save.
