Lunjevich - Yelicich

The marriage took place at St. Joseph’s Church, Kaitaia, of Ann, third daughter of Mr and Mrs D. Yelicich, to Fredrick, eldest son of Mr and Mrs L. Lunjevich, of Kaitaia. The Rev. Father McCormack performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of ivory slipper satin, with an inset yoke of faggotting. The long fitting sleeves coming to points over the hands, were inset above the wrists with faggotting and the fitting skirt fell to form • a long train. Her embroidered tulle veil was held by a halo of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of white roses, carnations and fern. The maids, Misses Florrie and Mary Lunjevich (sisters of the groom) were dressed alike in frocks of lime green chiffon georgette, the bodices being slightly gathered and trimmed at the back with a row of ribbon bows. The flared skirts were trimmed with circles of green ribbon with centres of pink velvet flowers, and green ribbon sashes were worn. They wore matching mittens and shoes. On their heads were worn circular hats of green net and pink velvet flowers, and they carried bouquets of pink carnations and pompom dahlias. The little flower girl, Daisy Lunjevich (sister of the groom) also wore a dress of lime green chiffon georgette, with puffed sleeves, and a I flared skirt trimmed with circles of j ribbon and coming to points at the waist.

Messrs. Steve and Frank Lunjevich (cousins of the groom) were best man and groomsman respectively. At the reception held at the Masonic Hall, the bride’s mother, Mrs Yelicich received her guests, wearing a navy crepe frock with toning accessories. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs Lunjevich, wore a navy mermaid sheer frock with navy hat, shoes and gloves to match.

In the evening a dance was held in the A. and P. hall, after which the bride and groom left for Auckland, the bride travelling in a navy costume with accessories to match. Their future home will be in Victoria Valley.
