Kirtlan - Urlich

Rose Eileen Urlich, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Steve Urlich, of Herekino, and William Stuart Kirllan, eldest sen of Mr and Mrs Harold Kirtlan, of Takahue, were the contracting parties in a pretty wedding at the Herekino Parish Hall recently. Charming decorations were arranged by friends of the bride.

The Rev. H. G. Taylor performed the ceremony, and Miss Keay presided at the organ.

The bride, who entered with her father, wore a graceful gown of ivory satin cut on princess lines with a heart-shaped neckline, trimmed with orange blossom. The sleeves, very full at the top, fitted from the elbow, forming points over the hands. Her veil of white tulle, worn over the face as she entered, was held in place by an upstanding halo of orange blossom and fell in a billowy train over the oval train of the frock. The bouquet was of white roses, carnations and asparagus.

The bridesmaids, Miss Muriel Urlich (sister of the bride) and Miss Myrtle Kirtlan (sister of the groom), were dressed alike in gold shot taffeta, with fitting bodices, heart-shaped necklines and puff sleeves. The full skirts were shirred in scallops at the hemlines. Their green net veils, scalloped in gold, were held in place by topknots of tinted flowers and they wore green mittens to tone. They carried dainty posies.

Two little flower girls, Dorothy Urlich (niece of the bride) and Lily Kirtlan (youngest sister of the groom) wore dainty frocks of green taffeta with full skirts. They wore Dolly Varden head-dresses and carried posies similar to the bridesmaids. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Hector Kirtlan as best man and Mr Jim Urlich as groomsman. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mrs Urlich receiving her guests wearing a navy floral frock with hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of Iceland poppies and asparagus The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs H. Kirtlan, wore a navy figured frock with hat to tone. Her bouquet was also of Iceland poppies and asparagus. In the evening, a well-attended dance was held in the Herekino hall.
