Mr. John William Radd, Of Waiotu
The death occurred at his home, last evening, of Mr John William Radd, a well-known and respected resident of Waiotu, near Whakapara, at the age of 58.
Mr Radd spent most of his life near his birthplace, Blenheim, and came to the North 18 years ago, later settling at Waiotu, where lie, was engaged in business for some time before devoting his time to farming. He was a veteran of the Boer War, during which he saw service in three major engagements. Mr Radd is survived by his wife, two sons, Messrs. W. J. Radd and R. P. Radd, of Waiotu, and three daughters, Miss Mary Radd, of Waiotu, and Mesdames H. W. Hayter, of Moerewa, and C. W. H. Reed, of Puhipuhi. There are five grandchildren. Mrs. E. H. Edwards The death occurred last week, at Craig Home, Hawera, of Mrs R. H. Edwards, well-known resident of Victoria Valley,’Kaitaia. Mrs Edwards had undergone a serious operation. Born in Kaitaia 43 years ago, Mrs Martha May Edwards spent most of her life in the North. She was a popular member of the Te Puhi and the Peria Maori Women's Institute.
The funeral took place at Victoria Valley, the Peria Maori Choir singing a hymn at the graveside as a tribute to Mrs Edwards. Deceased is survived by her husband, four sons, Messrs. Albert, Gordon, Lyall and Clyde Edwards, and two daughters, Misses Olga and Alva Edwards. There are two grandsons.
