Modem Machinery For Whangarei Mill
One of the most up-to-date of its kind in Northland, a modern planing machine is being installed by the Whangarei Timber Company at its mill on the foreshore, Whangarei. Weighing some tens, the machine has been imported direct from England, and was unloaded from the m.v. Kapiti yesterday morning after having been shipped from Auckland. The new equipment, which will enable the Whangarei firm to handle its work in an expeditious and thoroughly up-to-date manner, is a four-sided Robinson planer and moulder. 60 Feet Per Minute. It can cope with timber of any size up to 12 inches by four, and feeds at the rate of 60 feet per minute. It can be equipped to work with four, five and six cutter-heads, and is suitable for dressing both hard and soft timbers. The machine is driven by a 25 h.p. electric motor, and is being installed for immediate operation.
