Hikurangi

A meeting of the Hikurangi Women’s Institute was held in the parish hall on Tuesday evening, the attendance being fair. Proceedings were opened with the singing of the Institute song, and after the business had been dealt with an instructive address was given by Mrs Armstrong. The roll call was an exchange of economical recipes. A silver dish donated by Mrs McKegg, was won by Mrs Armstrong.

An opportunity was afforded members to display their ingenuity in the creation of hats, a prize being offered for the /most humorous effort. Most of those attending took part, the entry of Mrs Sandy Malcolm appealing mostly to the judge, Mrs Armstrong, who had a very difficult task in selecting one model from such a display of high class artistry. Supper served by the hostesses brought the meeting to a close. „ w «« S*
