Hain-Williams

A pretty wedding was solemnised at the Presbyterian Church, Whangarei, last Saturday when Gladys Marjorie, eldest daughter of Mr R. F. S. Williams, of Portland, was married to Charles Jan, son of Mrs E. Hain and the late Mr Hain,’ of Whangarei. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. Eliott and the organist Mr A. Dobson. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of oyster coloured satin cut on medieval lines with tight fitting sleeves and a high Medici collar. Her tulle veil was held in place w ith a top knot of water lilies, and she carried a shower ‘bouquet of cream carnations and chrysanthemums. The bridesmaid, Miss Myra Lorrimer, wore an attractive gown of rust coloured silk velvet cut on slim fitting lines. : Also in attendance were the bride’s twin sisters, who were gowned alike in midnight blue silk velvet. Their dresses were of the high waist style with the skirts fully gathered, and very full puffed sleeves. All three attendants wore topknots of gold lilies and each carried a bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr Ralph McQueen, of Whangarei, and the ushers were Mr A. C. Whitham and Mr Murdoch McLeod. Following the wedding a reception was held in the Settlers’ Hotel, Mrs Williams receiving her guests in an attractive frock of petrel blue embossed satin with fur stole and wearing burgundy hat and shoes. She carried a bouquet of shaded mauve carnations.

The bridegroom’s mother wore a smart navy costume with matching hat and shoes and fur stole. Her bouquet was of red gerberas and carnations.

Mr and Mrs Hain left by car for the south. The bride wore a frock of red earth crepe de chine with navy blue travelling coat dnd navy (blrff hat and accessories. They will make their home in Pukekohe.
