Paparoa Methodist Church
The annual Paparoa Methodist Home 'Mission meeting - was presided over by Rev. W. G. Feate and the Rev. C. W. Brown, a pioneer of church work in the backblocks and bush districts of New Zealand, gave an address. A vivid picture of the bravery, endurance and .adventurous nature of the settlers and their wives in facing the hardships and difficult conditions in the "out back" was painted by MiBrown, who also spoke of the efforts of the church through her agents, in following them with the Bible message. He showed that much success had attended the enterprise of Methodism in winning settlers and their families for Christ, and providing them with the opportunity of public worship. Churches, Sunday schools and Bible classes were now doing splendid work as they followed up the march of settlement. He made an appeal for support for "The Order of the Three Thousand.'' It was hoped to augment the Home Mission Fund by that amount annually to consolidate the work, and provide for fresh enterprise.
