Kawakawa Wants Recreation Ground

Kawakawa urgently requires a recreation ground. There is no provision for a playing area for football and cricket in the district, and local sportsmen are hampered by this lack. A children’s playing area and a motor camp are other amenities required by the district, "All these proposals came before a meeting recently when considering Centennial memorials,” stated a footballer when approached, “and as far as our club is concerned we are most anxious to see something done. The young men are prepared to do their part if a lead can be given, and the provision of a recreation ground seems to us to be an ideal type of memorial for this district,” lie continued. At a meeting held in Kawakawa on February 9 a committee comprising Messrs Blundell, Brewer, Paul, Williams, Skudder, Jack, Main and Dr. Frengiey was appointed to consider the schemes mentioned, but to date no finality has been reached.
