No. 1 Licensing Authority Sitting At Kaitaia
The following applications were dealt with at a sitting of No. 1 Licensing Authority at Kaitaia on Wednesday.—
Transfer of goods service, with right to carry passengers between Kaitaia and Mangonui from J. D. Ryan to H. R. Watts.—Granted. J. T. B. TaafTe. renewal of continuous goods service to Oliria.—Granted. Tokerau Land Board, renewal of continuous goods service between A waned and To Keo and one additional vehicle authority.—Held over. K. W. Christensen (Kaitaia* and J. 11. Gardiner (Awanui) were both granted renewals of goods service licenses.
.The goods service license of M Urlich (Ahipara) was revoked.
An application for the cancellation of two vehicle authorities by S. Himicna (Broacwood) was granted.
W. J. Cooper (Kaingaron) was granted an amendment of his goods service license, giving him the right to carry shell lime from Tokerau beach. The license of J. T. R. TaafTe for his passenger service between Awanui and Otiria was granted with the ’dght of the authority to revise fares at the earliest opportunity. The same reserve was made in granting a renewal to A. Hutley of his passenger service from Awanui to Gtiria. An application for the elimination of the compulsory passenger trip on Saturdays was granted J. T. Walsh who was given the right to run as required. T. H. B. Wilton’s application for a renewal of his passenger service between Mangonui and Moat's bridge was granted. • M. J. Enright was granted a renewal of his continuous passenger service between Broadwood and Pawarenga. The license of A. Hutley for a continuous passenger service between Waipapakauri and Kaitaia was renewed.
M. W. Leaf w.as granted a renewal of his passenger service between Panguru and Kohukohu. An application by the Tokerau Land Board for an renewal of its goods license and an additional vehicle authority was opposed by Mr Kelly on behalf of the Mangonui Carriers’ Association and decision was deferred.
The Panguru Maori Association applied for one vehicle authority and after much evidence had been heard decision was deferred till Judge Acheson could be heard on the matter. M. Lundon (Kohukohu) was granted a license enabling him to carry mail and groceries.
The application of Wilson Moore Motors for an additional vehicle authority for their goods service between Kaitaia and Okiawa was opposed by the Mangonui Carriers’ Association (Mr R. H. Kelly), the Kaitaia Dairy Company. Mangonui County Council and Avvanui Harbour Board (Mr J. 'B. Reynolds) and the four .northern branches of .the Farmers’ Union (Mr Morphett). After much evidence had been taken decision was deferred so as to permit each party to make submissions in writing.
Disposal Of Reclaimed Land In Whangaroa
[Special, to “Northern Advocate ”l KAEO, This Day. A letter received by the Whangaroa County Council at its monthly meeting at Kaeo from the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr L. J. Poff, stated that the department was at present going into the question of disposing of the reclaimed land on the Wafkoura Read. The settlers who are placed on the land will be required to clear tho drains and keep them in good order, as well as fencing the properly.
