New Names For Kaikohe Streets

On the motion of Messrs W. H. Knudsen and G. S. Penny, it was resolved, at this week’s meeting of the Kaikohe Town Board, that several alterations be made to the names of the streets in the town.

The old Okaihau Road is to be split into three new streets, the first section, from the Bank of New Zealand corner to De Merle Street intersection is to be known as Park Rd.; the portion between De Merle and Bissett road intersection to the boundary beyond Mrs B. Orr’s property is to be re-named Hillcrest Road; and the section between Mrs Webster’s corner and the boundary towards Lake Omapere is to be called Omapere Road. The street at present known as Park Avenue is to be re-named Recreation Road.
