jtor over five hours yesterday, a handful of men fought to subdue a bush fire which threatened about 20 beach houses in the area behind the southern end of Piha beach. Starting at a new road which will open up sections on the Rayner Estate, the flames burned both up the side of the hill ahd downward against a westerly breeze towards the beach.
