f Per Press Association. Copyright ..l WELLINGTON, This Day. Fear that the Government’s proposal to grant .a license for the manufacture 6f motor tyres in New Zealand would result in motorists being compelled to buy an article , greatly inferior, or ■much more expensive, was expressed at the half-yearly meeting of the North Island Motor Union. Mr E. Palliser, of Wellington, said it would be fatal to grant a monopoly to any one concern.
“The danger we see is a monopoly to the exclusion of overseas manu facturers who have served us well ir the past,” he added. It was decided to inform the authorities that in the opinion of the unior no license should be granted for the manufacture of tyres in New Zealand by one or more manufacturers, which would mean the restriction of tyre imports.
