Power Guarantees for Ruakaka-Oakleigh
Indicative of interest shown in the subject, the meeting summoned at Mata oh Friday to discuss means of securing electrical reticulation of the Oakleigh, Mata, Ruakaka and One Tree Point districts, was attended by nearly 100 people. That the housewives of the district fully realise the boon which electridal power would bestow upon their homes was shown by theif good representation.
Mr A. J. McKay, member of the North Auckland Power Board, who convened the meeting, explained that a preliminary canvass of the districts had disclosed a deficency in the amount required to reticulate the district.
His remarks v/ere supplemented by Mr T. R. Overton, engineer to the board.
After considerable discussion, in which the desire for reticulation was very evident, Messrs. A. Vaile, J. Murdoch and T. Watson were constituted a committee to assist the canvasser in making good the shortage in guarantee. An additional £l r ? 0 obtained in the room.
