Four Finalists For Senior Title

The. quarter-finals of the men’s singles at the annual provincial championship tournament of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association attracted a big crowd to the Stanley Street court yesterday afternoon. N. F. Bedford,- J. W. Gunn, N. G. Sturt and J. T. Mayson are left to contest the semi-finals tomorrow afternoon. The semi-final stages of the men’s doubles were also reached, the pairs which remain being J. W. Gunn and N. F. Bedford, E. D. Lusk and J. D. Mitchell, R. R. SmitA and M. T. Wilscn, J. C. Charters and R. G. Pattinson. Results were: — Men’s singles, quarter-finals: N. F. Bedford beat R. H. Lewis, 4 —6, 7—5, 6 —o, 6—l; J. W. Gunn beat W. T. Pountney, 6—3, 4—6, 6—3, 7—5; N. G. Sturt beat R. W. Smith, 3 —6, 6—l, 6 —4, 6 —4; J. T. Mayson beat R. G. Pattinson. 6 —l, 6 —l, 7 —5. Men’s doubles, quarter-finals; N. F. Bedford and J. W. Gunn beat D. B. Livingstone and J.
