Philanthropic Britons Help Europeans
(Received 10 a.m.) LONDON. January 21. The efforts of the British public to alleviate personal suffering and repair the social dislocation caused by racial, religious and political intolerance and persecution in Central Europe, show no sign of flagging. Earl Baldwin’s fund has now reached a total of £374,334. The fund raised by the Council for German Jewry totals £608,961, including £21,700 from the South African appeal. In February, an appeal is to be launched by the Society for the Protection of Science and Learning for a special fund for the assistance of academic refugees.
