After a festive tea with his wife to mark the christening of their child, William Andrews, 23-year-old labourer, of Maxey Road, Dagenham, went to his club to continue the celebration. , About 8.30 he left, and shortly afterwards a nine-gallon barrel of beer was missed. The club steward went in search of it and his inquiries led him to the happy father’s house, about a quarter of a mile away. The steward found the barrel of beer. Andrews had rolled it all the way home. At Stratford police courc he was fined £l. i BASH FROM FUE. Mrs. Lilian Angus Welch (53), of Walbottle Hall, near Newcastle, was awarded £250 damages and £36/10/medical expenses when she claimed at Newcastle Assizes that she contracted dermatitis from the fur tie of a coat. The coat was supplied by Doreen Newcastle, Ltd., of Northumberland Street, Newcastle. Evidence was given that a skin rash was set up by an oxide in the fur. .
.Mr, J, Harvey Robson, defending, admitted that the condition was set up by the fur, but sought to prove that the fur had been supplied to Doreens by Morris Coats Ltd., of London, who were joined in the case as a third party.
