At the monthly meeting of the Dargaville-Arapohue branch of the Farmers’ Union, recent statements that farmers were deliberately reducing production were refuted by members, when a motion of protest was adopted. It expressed regret at the accusation, and pointed out that the decline in production was beyond the control of the dairy farmers. “It is up to all branches to combat the statement,” said the chairman, Mr. E. G. Appleton. “Those who say the farmers are deliberately causing the decline do not know what they are talking about, as since the depression farmers have been doing their best to increase production.” I
